Queer Spaces: The 21st LGBTQ+ History Conference

Date: 2 December 2023

Times: 10.00-16.00

Venue: London Metropolitan Archives, 40 Northampton Road, London EC1R 0HB

Description: How do we queer a space? How do we know that it’s queer? Is a space already queer when we arrive in it, or is it our presence that makes it so? What about forgotten and erased queer spaces – are they…. straight now?

The London Metropolitan Archives are delighted to bring you the 2023 Annual LGBTQI+ Conference, on the expansive theme of ‘Queer Space’. Curated this year by Dani Dinger (www.danidinger.com), expect deep dives into what makes a space queer, the different ways our community takes up space, and how we can keep building it together.

Drawing on buried history of London’s (un/)intentional queer spaces, this year’s conference will use archival content, conversational explorations, and participatory workshops to ask what queer spaces are, how we’ve held them in history, and how we can preserve them for the future.

 Cost: £12.00-£17.00
